Day +51

We are about half way to day 100. I feel like it has taken forever to get to this point but we are grateful Dale continues to do well. We went to clinic at UCLA twice this week. The wbc and ANC have been stable. The ANC is around 4,000. The Hgb is still 9.6 . The plts are now 97,000. Dale has not needed another transfusion since his discharge from the hospital. Because the platelets have been over 50,000 for more than a week, Dale can now use a toothbrush to brush his teeth instead of the sponge toothettes and he can ride his bike as long as he wears a helmet. The liver enzymes have been about the same. The last AST - 60 ALT - 173 and total bili - 0.7. Since they added the Cellcept (another immunosupressant) the doctors have been slowly tapering his steroids (prednisone). His face and body are puffy from the prednisone so it will be good to get him off of it. The progress is slow but steady. Derek is now home all day because of spring break and follows Dale around the house. We are all happy to be on spring break. Have a great Easter Sunday. Thank you for your prayers. Grace and peace to you all....

i haven't written to you in a while. i'm glad to hear you're doing so well! thank you for the phone message. i don't know why, but i keep missing your calls but i keep your message on my phone so that i can hear your voice...

did mom tell you, we'll be coming up in a few weeks. approx. 4 weeks! can't wait to see you...
be sure to let me know if there's anything you want or need...

we have to take a field trip to a bakery in santa monica. it's called sprinkles. have you heard of it? they sell cupcakes, all kinds of cupcakes. if you have time, look up their website and decide what day you'd like to go (everyday they have different flavors). i want to try the red velvet and hmmm... can't decide on any other flavors! let me know which one you'd like to try.

until later, take care and talk to you soon...

Hi Dale,
Indeed it was a Happy Easter for you, your family and your Church. Did you have a chance to have an Egg Hunt? We had two egg hunts in our family. We went to a birthday party for one and then had one for our selves. I helped our church to dye eggs for our Easter brunch and had four huge pots to cook and dye about 504 eggs. It was easier to put them into 4 pots and put a single color into each of them, so I had a yellow pot, green, blue and red. It all cooked and dyed well except for about 2 dozen which cracked in the cooking process.

We had a nice brunch after our 9 a.m. service then I had to rush home to get my dessert and salad together for our Easter lunch. As usual, we all ate too much so our dinner was very lean. Were you able to eat a good and generous Easter dinner?

It so good to read that you're doing well and that you can use your own toothbrush. Those swabby one are the pits huh? Keep up the good work, for good health, your school work and guess what, pretty soon you can do chores too huh? Much love, popo and gung gung
